May 22, 2010 update Thanks so much for "Living History School Days" new sponsors: Northern Star Coop $250, along with Leech Lake Gaming $250, Blandin Foundation $500, People in Business Care $500, Deer River Chamber of Commerce $250 so far, and for that amount they will receive an etched mirrow to display at their place of business to show their support for our community nonprofit, that shares the area's history, back to 1798! Also much thanks goes to the Northview Bank $100, Hawkinson Construction $50, and GR Area Lakes Credit Union $25.Thank you also for Robin & Joe Oberton who are taking this project of support on. Mary Jean & Chuck Ogee have concluded their 10th year as White Oak's "Living History School Days" volunteer oordinators. They have announced their "real retirement" at this time. They leave White Oak to a strong group of White Oak supporters & followers, and wish them the best as they carry on the torch for White Oak's continuing years. Ogee's extend great appreciation and gratitude for the many believers over their years of involvement and leadership. Thanks for sharing the dream! Now accepting pre-registrations for August 6, 7, 8, 2010 for the 22nd. Annual White Oak Rendezvous. price for camps stay the same, $45, which includes camping for the entire time, and admission to the three public days of the Rendezvous! Gate fee for day visitors remains only $6 for the entire day 10 a.m. -7p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. --submitted Mary Jean Ogee 5/22/10 Calendar of Events We offer Hall rentals for your private group gathering, celebrations, special meetings, etc.! The Colonial Great Hall rents for $175 per day, $225 per days with the use of the kitchen! Tax is additional. Call 218-246-9393 or email: whiteoak@paulbunyan.net. We offer outside rental for $100 per day, $50 for half day, with an additional $25 for electricity. This means stage, bathrooms, and food booths. "Dad's" can be rented for $50 per day. Campground, $12/site and meadow camping, $7/site is also available. Dorm A and B can be rented per room for $12 per person/night. When the heat goes on, it's $15/night. This works great for scrapbooking groups, sleeping quarters for hunting or fishing groups, etc. JANUARY Website address for the White Oak Classic Sled Dog Race is www.whiteoakclassicsleddograce.org. Ellen BS & Dan B are leads for this event. The 2011 White Oak Sled Dog Classic with take place on the second weekend of January. Musher Registration and Spaghetti Feed will again be Friday 4 to 7 p.m., and the actual race takes place Saturday at 9:30 a.m., with staging and introduction & scent trail beginning 9:30 a.m.. Saturday morning White Oak serves a pancake breakfast from 6 - 9:30 a.m. with race immediately following.1.) "Recreational Teams" - start at White Oak and end at Gosh Dam Place 2.) "Trophy Teams/Bob Lundeen Memorial Classic" - starts at White Oak and ends at Squaw Lake Community Center off Hwy 46, north from Deer River (2 hour mandatory layover at Gosh Dam Place) 3.) "Northome 8" Professional Teams - start at White Oak and end in Northome Saturday evening. 4.) 10 Dog Professional Teams - start at White Oak and end at Marcell Family Center on Sunday morning. (6 hour mandatory layover at Northome or Effie).From 7:00 a.m. to noon, breakfast is available with awards ceremony following. White Oak's Sled Dog Classic----It is fantastic and fun for everyone! Friday registration, dog checks, and "Meet the Mushers" Spaghetti Dinner 4-7:30 p.m. at the White Oak Learning Centre & Fur Post at 33155 State Hwy 6, one mile north of Deer River on Hwy 6 Saturday 6-9:30 a.m. Pancake Breakfast; 10:00 a.m. Race begins at Rendezvous Stage, with introductions, Scent Trail, and staging starting at 9:30 a.m; 6:00 p.m. Trophy Race ends at the Squaw Lake Community Center with awards ceremony for Recreational and Trophy Teams Sunday 6:30 a.m.- noon Pancake Breakfast; Race ends by noon at the Marcell Family Center followed by award ceremony for the 8 dog and 10 dog professonal teams. |
