Reminder to members and those who want to be members.
Our next Board and membership meeting is Thursday
September 13 (Bd at 5:30 and membership at 7 pm).
White Oak's official annual membership meeting has
been recessed until October 11 at 7 pm. Lots of things
to discuss including rendezvous results, minor
changes to the by-laws, and election of Board members.
Hope to see you there. John Powers <djpowers@cpinternet.com> Duluth, USA -
Nice site...
In spite of the heat and high humidity, we had a wonderful event. Lots of new family camps and some new traders all added to the workshops and excitement and enjoyment of the week. Having these new faces and new people getting "into" reenactment is fabulous to see. All of you participants deserve a great ROUND OF APPLAUSE for making the White Oak Rendezvous such a success. Yes the numbers were down some but having as many people as we did in such hot weather is commendable.
Thank you to all the volunteers that came when asked to "work and or interpret" and offer workshops/demonstrations etc. As I said Saturday night: "The people make the event". That is so true for this last two weeks. Everyone (in spite of the uncomfortable weather) left with a good feeling and everyone wished each other the best. If you would like to send comments to us and have suggestions for new workshops/activities for 2002, just email: whiteoak@paulbunyan.net
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE. GREAT JOB
Perry
Would the guy who always whine at people for not having the correct outfit on stop whining. It is not your job and the kid who did wear his tennis shoes is because he cut his foot and could walk better in them. I think this whinner drinks to much. Stay home next year.
I'm looking for a set of buckskins, size is a small buffalo.
Going to get my brother into it, he's never been to a Ron-Dee-Voo.
And he was just told he has cancer, so I'd like this to happen.
Please email me with details.....Thanks

Great site, informative. I missed the Ron-Dee-Voo
this year, but I'll be ready to ride soon.
I'm looking for a member of the Lac Superieur Exploration,
his name is Shadowcatcher (I think). Anyone know how
to get ahold of him, please leave me a line or two.
Thanks in advance....

Good afternoon, could anyone tell me when Big Island is in October? I need to know, please. thank you.
Thanks to Neil Grunke, Wolfman, Ray and Christie Boessel for working at the workday this last weekend. Things are shaping up to get ready for Rendezvous. Please come out this next weekend, July 21 and 22, if at all possible to help.
White Oak's "guide to interpreting the fur post" is
now on-line!! This is an evolving guide to how we
present the era through our site. You are free to
use it for your reenacting, teaching, or studying.
If you find errors, omissions, etc., let us know -
our base of knowledge and presentation always needs
expansion and refinement. Many thanks to Ken Eck
for adding this material to our web site (and, if I
you will allow me an immodest moment, to myself for
writing it).
VERY good web site. Just what I need right now as I begin my journey back into time. Perhaps I can add some of my music in the future.
Thanks!

Another winter is history here in the north land. It was a rough winter for many of us, marked by the passing of Grandpa Vick, the breaking of Ray, and I can't seem to find my bladder anywhere. Hopefully the year to come will be marked by more positive things. Like the greatest White Oak Rendezvous ever! I look forward to seeing you all again.
The work day for school days went well. The spring cleaning of the post is making the site look great
NEXT WORK DAY IS SUNDAY, MAY 6. Our first group of kids arrives on May 10. If you can come and help, let us know and we will gladly accept your assistance. Thanks
Great site! Makes me kind of wish I lived back in that neck of the woods. I am a free trapper, but publish a newsletter for the North West Buckskinners Brigade containing rendezvous dates for eight of the northwestern states. Was hoping to find some dates I haven't been made aware of.

The membership meeting and board meeting has been postponed from May 10th to May 17th next month. We have school days on the 10th and the dining hall will not be available for use by the group until the following week. Sorry for the inconvenience. Perry,
At last yrs. summer Rendezvous did anyone turn in a pair of 'Stork" scissors? A lady contacted me inquirring about them. Seems she may have lost them during one of the workshops.
Merci mon ami,
North
Ole, The table you had up looked great and Thanks for the info recieved from the gals that assisted me. ALSO! Thanks to all who visited the CoHT Booth! We had a great number of renewals and several new members join our fold! REMEMBER...trekking is not the only way to reenact history...it's another way besides rendezvous-ing. See ya on the trail!
Karl A Koster www.coht.org
P.S. look for a possible trekking seminar at White Oak during the week of the Summer Event!
I had an inquiry about buying a used wall tent. If you know of one for sale please contact white oak or myself and let me know
thanks
Thank you for all the support you showed us at the New Ulm Trade Fair. As many of you know, we were graciously allowed to have a table at this event to do some fire recovery after our fire on January 17 at Historic Murphy's Landing. Your generous donations of money, books, memberships, information, and encouraging words were much more then I ever expected at this event. We are still looking for old records on Murphy's Landing that we can get copies, pictures taken at Murphy's Landing, and information of members or people who may have scheduled a tour to the Landing this spring and summer. We lost all hard copy, all computer content, so we have alot of reconstructing and reconnecting left to do. We look forward to seeing and visiting many of you at the Eagle Creek Rendezvous on Memorial Weekend. Until then thank you for all the encouragement you have given us.
What is the address of your school .
Please e-mail it to me

From Deer River Cub Scout Pack 86, a Big Thank You to Joseph L., Ken & Bonnie, Tony & Mary & Three Hawks for taking the time to share with the boys. We all had a great time.
To Gary Peterson (Wolfman) Thanks for clearing the trails so that we could get back to the post. We had 4 parents & 8 scouts, some who have never been to White Oak before. I thank everyone for making them feel Welcome. Mr. Edwards & I are proud to see people coming out & enjoying the White Oak site, knowing that we helped to create such a wonderful gathering spot for everyone.
Take care all. Coleen
Thanks for all you came to the Winter Camp! We had
a fantastic time enjoying the weather and friendship
of the camp. Saturday night's potluck and dance
was all that rendezvousing is about. And Nate
Tahtinen bringing his dog team into the post was as
nifty a sight you would want to see. Upcoming news:
WO Board meeting followed by general membership
gathering -- March 15 (5:30 Board; 7:00 membership).
Doug Marston fundraiser -- March 17 (5:00).
Hey, the weather will be great for the Winter Camp
this weekend. Should make for challenging shooting,
treks, snowshoe races. Nate Tahtinen will have his
dog sled and team on site on Sunday -- demonstrations
and maybe some rides along the Nature Trail!
See you all there.
X Joseph
