White Oak Dog Sled Race 2013 is set for January 19, 2013!!
Join The White Oak Society in a celebration of winter, history, and canine companions! An 18 mile sprint race up to the famous Gosh Dam Place.
The fun starts at the White Oak Historical Site just north of Deer River, Minnesota. Food, frenzy and fur.
Vet check-ins will be from noon to seven pm on Friday January 20th. Race begins on Saturday morning. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Spaghetti Dinner on Friday evening. Wake up with the dogs and have breakfast with the White Oak Society Saturday morning. We’ve got you covered for lunch too with coffee, cider, hot dogs, chili, chips and more.
Prizes will include:
- A $250 wool capote (long coat) such as those worn by early settlers in the area around the White Oak Fur Post in Deer River.
- A $250 large, antler-handled knife engraved with the White Oak Dog Sled Race name and date.
- A hand-etched “red lantern” prize for last place; warm musher clothing, and other prizes.
A Total Race Purse of $600 will be awarded equally between the two race classes as follows:
“Alaskan Husky Class”
